Harness Rescue Training
(Descent Casualty Lowering)
½ Day Course

Harness Rescue Training

Who is this course for?

Rescue considerations is now a duty that you have to handle. Without going into the moral and legal implications, its simply an area that has to have provision within your working at height program today. (for more detail see our rescue guidance notes)

We believe this can still be kept simple and cost effective.

Understanding the relative height exposure, using competent trained workers, having controls and appropriate height safety equipment in place, results in limited actual risk within everyday scope of work.

Because the risk is low and the post rescue is typically straight forward, we see no point in pushing difficult, advanced, costly rescue techniques and systems. The more complicated the rescue system the more potential there is for human error and things to go wrong.

Our philosophy has always been wherever possible keep it simple, and that’s what we have done with this course and equipment package.

So if your looking for a great rescue system, we believe this is probably the simplest gear, easiest to operate and with built in automatic casualty holding override safety function making it the safest of rescue systems.

Is the descent rescue system right for you?

The descent rescue system is designed to lower the casualty. Which is the physically the easiest way to go, and fastest type of rescue. Because of this the whole rescue operation can be handled by one person, and there is no need for the rescue operator to go near the fall area and be exposed to the risk of falling themselves.

By lowering the casualty to the ground makes extraction from the building better for the emergency services.

System benefits:

  • Versatile for any lowering application
  • Standard system length 30m, but can be supplied up to 200m
  • Vertical anchorage suitable (Above casualty)
  • Horizontal anchorage suitable (Back from the edge exposure)
  • Automatic parking capability
  • Panic/ accidental release automatic safety holding override
  • Requires only one person to operate and effect rescue
  • Stretcher handling - recovery of a casualty incorporating a stretcher loaded vertically or horizontally combined with descent rescue system

IMPORTANT The descent system is only suitable for applications where lowering is a viable option and there is no obstruction/ restrictions to this process. If this is notthe case we would advise using our Haul (Raising only system) or our Winch (Raising and lowering system).

What are the objectives of the course

When it really matters, you need to be competent and confident to carry out rescue and you can only really achieve this through live direct training. This course is very hands on, we don’t just talk, we do. What does that mean? We actually rescue people on the course, by physically going through the process, at height over the edge of the build recovering people. The delegates all have to complete real rescues of each other (we also provide a rescue dummy if preferred).

This is done in a very safe controlled environment with all the necessary back-up systems for maximum safety.

Learning outcome

After successful completion of the course, we guarantee delegates will be able to competently and safely handle the rescue of a conscious casualty using the rescue step (personal relief system) and the rescue ladder system, but with the main focus being able to facilitate the recovery of an unconscious casualty by lowering to a lower floor or ground level using the descent rescue system.

Be reassured we don’t leave until we feel happy your happy, competent and safe.

We train at your location

On-site training is the key to reducing disruption and minimising lost time for employers. It also allows specific training and advice relative to rescue at your actual site and working area making it have real value.
